Hello Readers! I hope you are having a good start to your week. And if not, then maybe the fact that it’s officially Fall will cheer you up. I do not know about you guys but I love Fall. The weather starting to cool, the sweaters and heavier jackets making their seasonal debut, women in beanies, and the sense of the holidays being just right around the corner. Fall is a great time. And although it still may be warm in some places ( it is still early Fall), I am in the Fall mood. To me, nothing quite says Fall like ” It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.” To me this soundtrack just really takes me to that Fall place. As soon as I start playing it I can taste the apple pie, see the fresh pumpkin patch and smell the Fall candles. That’s what this movie/soundtrack does for me. Perhaps it does something different for you. Let me know in the comments if you’re in the Fall mood. Let’s share some Fall memories on this post! Now as I sign off until the next post, put on this soundtrack, breakout your sweaters and beanies, and let the music take you to that open pumpkin patch, or smell the pumpkin spice as you’re officially whisked away into the Fall season.
Howdy readers! It’s been awhile. I’ve been busy trying to adapt the heat and humidity here in Austin. But I can’t believe I haven’t really mentioned Van Morrison at all in this blog. I am a big Van Morrison fan. His style, song writing and band is unparalleled. I could go on and on about Van Morrison, his songs, the different meanings and feelings for them all. Perhaps I’ll do that in future posts. But, for right now I recommend you re visit this tune or check it out for the first time. It is a great song that really describes the simple, yet fun times you can have outdoors with a buddy or family. So, as we head into this weekend in the middle of July, get out there, make some memories, or kick back and relax and talk about past ones with friends and family. Either way, it’ll stone you to your soul. Have a good weekend folks!
Hey guys! This song is written, and performed/ recorded by my friend Justin down here in Austin. It’s a pretty good song with good lyrics. Very relatable, especially someone who is in their twenties or even people who are just going through something similar. He played most of the instruments on the recording and sang the vocals. Give it a listen and let me know what you think!
The holiday season is upon us! And if you’re like me, then you absolutely love this time of year. There is nothing like the holiday season. There’s a certain feeling in the air that seems to make people nicer and warmer on the inside during the holiday season. I know I get that feeling. Something about the Holiday season that really brings together family, friends and even strangers. After all, it is called the most wonderful time of the year. But, to me, the ultimate thing that contributes to this time of year being so great is, you guessed it, the music. Personally, I love Christmas/holiday music. There is something about the music that really brings the whole holiday season together. Each and every year I remember a certain Christmas song being played in a particular moment and it allows me to remember that moment forever. And of course that’s the beauty of music in general, but it’s the holiday season and I am in the mood. My all time favorite Christmas tune is “The Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole. Everything about that tune is magical. Every time I hear that song come on I instantly go back to a moment in time from last December. It was almost time for winter break from school and my old roommate and I were sitting outside in our backyard having a drink by a fire and talking past Christmas memories, and come to find out, his favorite Christmas tune is also the Christmas Song. The Nat king Cole song was on playing in the background, the fire was roaring outside and It’s a moment I will remember forever every time I hear that song. Now, my favorite Christmas album is A Charlie Brown Christmas. I love jazz and the style Vince Guaraldi used on that record to create some fantastic Christmas tunes. The most recent memory I have of this album was just last week. Last week it was Thanksgiving here in the States and so both of my older sisters came, which is always a blast and a treat. For as long as I can remember the day after Thanksgiving was the Christmas turnaround in our house. We get the tree, we decorate the inside and decorate the tree and then have our very close family friends come over for dinner to see everyone and catch up. We did all of that this year ( can’t break tradition) and this time I enjoyed even more than I usually do. We’re all getting older and who knows how many holidays we have left that just involve the five of us, so this year I really took in that evening and enjoyed the moment. We had a great evening, it was festive throughout the house and of course the album we had playing in the background was the Charlie Brown Christmas one. When that first track “O Tannenbaum” comes on I just instantly go to that evening and remember how joyous it was. There’s a lot of good holiday songs out there and hopefully this post leads you to remembering old holiday memories through those songs. I hope this Holiday Season finds you well and thankful. Cheers to the Holiday Season! Here’s my favorite Christmas tune to get you more in the mood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOszvL9lgSs
