For those who read my last post ( here’s the link to it here:https://musicalconnectionblog.wordpress.com/2016/09/07/a-season-of-change/) you understand the struggle I’ve been going through and that struggle and the grind is all part of life. Sometimes one needs to go through these struggles in order to really feel a since of motivation and change. After writing that “Season of Change” post 11 days ago and going through the struggle and the sad emotions, I find myself in a much better state of mind and feel more motivated than ever to put in the hard work in order to get myself an entry level job and get out of my hometown. It’s not only a new motivation for finding a job and starting my life, It’s motivation to step up my efforts in the gym and start taking everything I do more seriously and putting in a better work ethic. Time to start living. I chose to title this post “Spark”, which is the name of the debut album of the very talented artist Drake White, because it instills a certain drive within in me to continue to strive and work hard to get what I want out of life. In life all it takes is some sort of spark to get something going. I know Drake White’s backstory and what he had to go through just to get his first full album released. He has been on the circuit for years grinding it out, playing shows and opening up for big time acts such as Zac Brown Band and Eric Church. Back in 2011 or 2012 when his first album was supposed to be released, he got dropped by his record label weeks before the release was supposed to happen. And did he give up? Absolutely not. I have huge respect for musicians who have put in the hard work and have gone about it the hard way, just being a road warrior and playing show after show with no real record label leads. I look up to these kind of artists because they inspire me to never give up. Now, I think this whole album is quite good. One of the full length albums that I have bought in about a year. There’s one particular song on this album that really motivates me. It’s called “Heartbeat”and the lyric that gets me is when he sings” here’s my plan brother man, yeah I’ll be just fine, cause I got my back don’t got no slack in this good old spirit of mine.”It’s a song like this that makes me realize that life is too short to do anything but work as hard as you can and enjoy it along the way. It’s another beautiful power of music. It’s why people listen to music while they workout, so they can feel motivated. Sometimes music is what it takes to allow oneself to kick it into gear and get busy living. What kind songs and lyrics strike you guys to feel more motivated and push yourself even more? I look forward to your answers. Thanks for reading! Please like and subscribe and share this with your friends. Be sure to check out that artist Drake White. You won’t be disappointed.
